Why bring your choir to London in 2027
21 October 2026 ยท 12:00 London

Choosing a competition is a decision a choir lives with for a whole season. Repertoire is planned around it, budgets are built around it, and singers dream about it. So it is worth asking the honest question: why London, and why this competition?
Start with the city itself. London is one of the great capitals of choral music - a place where choirs have sung in cathedrals, concert halls and theatres for centuries. In July 2027, your choir will not perform in a sports arena on the edge of town, but in the heart of the city: the Royal College of Music, the Britten Theatre and The Actors' Church in Covent Garden. These are rooms built for the human voice, with acoustics that reward every hour you have spent in rehearsal.
Then there is the way the competition is run. The London Choral Competition 2027 was founded on a simple principle: transparency. The registration fee is one clear price per category - 250 pounds - and the Singer Pass is one clear price per singer. There are no hidden charges waiting at the end, no compulsory hotel packages, no obligatory meals or transfers sold back to you at a markup. Your choir arranges its own travel and accommodation, which means your budget stays in your hands. If you would like help, we recommend hotels and hostels on request - but the choice is always yours.
Every singer's pass covers the full experience: all competition sessions, the Opening Ceremony and Gala Concert, the Grand Prix, workshops and masterclasses, the official accreditation badge and welcome pack, and medals and diplomas for every choir. Nothing essential is sold separately.
What truly sets London 2027 apart, however, is what happens after you sing. Every competing conductor meets the international jury face to face at the round-table and receives personal, detailed feedback on their performance - not a score sheet in an envelope, but a conversation with musicians who have spent their lives listening to choirs. For many conductors, this alone is worth the journey.
And above it all stands the London Choral Crown. The Grand Prix is not decided for a cheque or a cup: the winning conductor is crowned on stage at the Gala Crowning Ceremony and invited to join the international jury in 2028. It is recognition that continues long after the final chord.
Applications are now open, and places in each category are limited. Choirs that apply early secure their place, their preferred schedule and the best choice of accommodation near the venues - and for the earliest applicants we have prepared a special Early Bird gesture, which you will find in the application form. We look forward to hearing your choir under the London sky.
